Why signatures need their own settings
A photographed signature is mostly paper, and a camera sees white paper as uneven grey with shadows. Left like that, the shadows use most of the file’s bytes and the signature looks dirty. Two automatic steps fix it:
- Pure-white paper. The tool measures your photo to find the level that separates ink from paper, then turns everything lighter than that white.
- Trimmed margins. The picture is cropped to the signature plus a small border, so the file is spent on the ink.
The result is usually a crisp signature that reaches the maximum at a large, readable size, and if the form sets a minimum, the file is enlarged honestly to reach it.
Taking the photo
- Plain white paper, black or dark-blue pen, a bold line.
- Photograph from directly above, in daylight, without flash.
- Keep your hand and phone’s shadow off the paper.
- Sign larger than usual; the tool will scale it down cleanly.

How do I resize my signature for an online form?
Sign on white paper with a dark pen, take a photo from directly above, then choose it here with the size range your form asks for. The tool whitens the paper, trims the empty space and saves a JPG within the range.
My signature file is too small. How can it be 20 KB?
A clean signature is mostly white, which compresses to very few bytes. To reach a minimum such as 20 KB, the tool raises the quality and, if needed, enlarges the signature's pixel size. It never pads the file with filler data.
The form wants a signature of exact pixels. How?
Choose 'Exact pixels…' under Pixel size, type the width and height, and keep 'Add white borders' selected so no part of the signature is cut off.
Should I turn off 'Make the paper pure white'?
Only if some of your pen strokes disappear (this can happen with a very light pen). The option keeps anything clearly darker than the paper.
Is it safe to use my signature here?
